Benadryl is classified as an antihistamine or a histamine blocker. In Benadryl Allergy Relief, acrivastine is the active ingredient. Acrivastine keeps out the H1 receptors and stifles allergy elements from being released into the system. This medication also provides relief to itching eyes, hives, and rashes. One great thing about Benadryl Allergy Relief is that it does not have a sedative effect so it does not interfere with work or daily routines. When an antihistamine does not sedate, that is due to the fact that it doesn’t penetrate the brain.

Allergies can be caused by pets, by the bedding in your house, and natural chemicals outside in the air we breathe. Benadryl Allergy Relief with acrivastine is used for inflamed sinus and nasal lining caused by seasonal allergies.

As with any other medication, Benadryl has a set dosage level and should not be overtaken. In a 24 hour interval, no more than 300 mg of this medication should be taken. You should never take two doses at one just because you missed dose. If you should overdose, get to the emergency room.

Some Benadryl products will cause drowsiness, but Benadryl Allergy Relief is designed not to make you sleepy. Now, there are precautionary measures—different people have different reactions because of the body’s chemical composition. In rare instances this non drowsy formula can actually cause some drowsiness. If you are one of these rare people, do not drink alcohol or drive or operate a vehicle or machinery while taking this medication.

Another precaution is to make sure that you stop taking the Benadryl Allergy relief with acrivastine 48 hours prior to taking a skin prick test to see if you have any allergies. The test results may be altered by the use of the medication. Sometimes a person may have an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients contained in Benadryl. This medication should not be taken by children under 12, by anyone allergic to an antihistamine called triprolidne, to elderly people, or to those with kidney problems. Although its effects on pregnant women are not yet certain, if you are pregnant, be cautious and ask your doctor for advice before taking it. Benadryl should not be taken within two weeks of taking a MAO inhibitor, also if you have had glaucoma, eye pressure, ulcers, bladder trouble, HBP, asthma, heart problems, overactive thyroid, or enlarged prostate.

Benadryl Allergy Relief acrivastine medication is an excellent choice because under normal circumstances it does not sedate and it is a quick acting, effective medication that provides relief for many allergy symptoms.

Have you heard the news—allergy relief pillow covers and mattress covers can eliminate your early morning runny nose, blocked up nose, and watery eyes associated with allergies.  These covers look identical to a pillow case and they are made to block your exposure to dust mites.  Using them will leave you feeling better and more refreshed in the mornings.  But how does it all work?

Dust mite is a minute organism that is classified as an arachnid.  It is invisible to the naked eye, which is probably good since they are rather ugly!  Anyway, these creatures prefer warm, moist fabric (like furniture, carpets, curtains, and especially bedding).  When you sleep on your pillow, you are likely sleeping with hundreds of thousands of these little friends!  Disturbing thought, isn’t it?

So anyway, for those allergic to dust mites (about 1 in 10 people), a special covering for your pillow known as an allergy relief pillow can protect you from those nasty allergens.  An allergy relief pillow cover is designed to trap dust mites and other microscopic creatures, keeping you from breathing in allergens and suffering through annoying symptoms.  The secret is in the material used to create the cover—custom fabrics.  Once the case is around the pillow, simply put a regular cover over top of the allergy relief pillow case.

As far as the rest of your bed goes, they also make mattress covers so you will be completely protected. Mattress covers are not immune from having dust mites.  Neither are canopies and other frilly bed décor. If you’re into that, the best thing to do is get rid of it.  At the very least, be sure to wash it along with your pillow, pillow case, sheets, covers, and allergy relief bedding.  A wash should be done weekly in hot water (at least 130 degrees Fahrenheit).  Warm water will not kill the dust mites.  If you can’t wash them in hot water, you can put them in a plastic bag and freeze them for 48 hours.

When you have morning allergies due to dust mites, it can ruin the whole day.  It leaves you feeling un-rested because instead of recuperating, your body was fighting off allergens all night.  By buying yourself or your loved one an allergy relief pillow cover and with the proper maintenance, they will be able to sleep better and feel better.  And that will make everyone happy!

Unfortunately, allergies can happen to anybody.  Allergies can hit without warning; it’s possible that you may not even be aware you have them, since several symptoms are closely associated with the common cold.  Heredity can even play a factor in becoming an allergy sufferer.  The familiar itching, runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing are a burden on all those who are stricken with allergic conditions.  But it’s not always just a light burden:  For some individuals, having allergies can be much more difficult, and the symptoms much more severe.  Fortunately, there is help for sufferers of allergy symptoms – a prescription medication called Alavert may be able to control your allergy symptoms.

Alavert is marketed by Wyeth and is a drug by the name of loratadine.  This allergy drug is also sold by Schering-Plough under the name Claritin, as well as being available as a generic drug.  Loratadine is designed to relieve allergy symptoms such as sneezing, burning or watery eyes, and itching.  It is available in tablet form, as syrup, and also as quick-dissolving tablets.  Alavert should act just as long-lasting remedies do, without leading to drowsiness.  In fact, lack of drowsiness is one of the key selling points of loratadine.

As with any medication, there can be side effects as a result of taking Alavert.  The typical side effects most often seen from loratadine users include headache, drowsiness, dry mouth, upset stomach, and blurred vision, among others.  In some cases, more serious side effects could develop; some of these include dizziness, hypotension, confusion, blood disorders, sleep issues, heart palpitations, rash, and even liver problems.  If you already have liver problems, use this product with great caution; if the drug causes any urinary suppression, then your physician may decide that it’s best if the dosage were decreased.

As bad as adults feel when they get sick, there’s no misery quite like that experienced in childhood when you got sick and couldn’t do the stuff you wanted to do.  If your child has allergies, and you are considering giving them Alavert, be sure that you know that any side effects experienced from taking Alavert are even more likely to occur in children.  You may wish to take them to a pediatric clinic or see a practicing pediatrician to discuss options for your child and what to give them for their allergies.

Allergies can be a major strain on your daily life, especially at certain times of the year.  But with Alavert, allergy relief may be closer than it once was.

Allergies got you down?  Perhaps you’ve tried changing the sheets and having the carpet steam cleaned. Mabye you’ve already switched to using HEPA filters to eliminate any dust mite problems.  And those medications make you sleepy and don’t seem to help all that much either.  If you’re fresh out of options for finding relief, how about this one—allergy shots.  Now before you wince at the thought of being jabbed by a needle, just listen to all the benefits of taking allergy shots.

Allergies, as you know, are caused by a defect in your immune system.  What happens is this: first, you breathe in a foreign body such as ragweed, pollen, dust mites, pet hair, and such.  Your body incorrectly identifies them as a threat to the body and begins to dispatch antibodies to “fight off” the invasion.  This causes in a host of unpleasant symptoms—runny nose, watery eyes, itching, etc.  While you can try steering clear of the things that set off your allergy, this may not always be possible.  You can also keep taking drugs and pills, but they only treat the symptoms and may keep you from feeling alert.  The best approach is to stop the cause and effect cycle entirely by teaching the immune system to better distinguish a harmless substance from a true hazard.  Allergy shots can accomplish this over a period of time, and is known as immunotherapy.

Allergy shots are similar to vaccine shots in that you are given a weakened form of the allergen (the same way you might be given a dead or weakened virus).  Also, allergy shots can actually prevent allergies in children as young as five.  The body is gradually desensitized over a period of time.  By increasing the doses each time, the immune system builds a tolerance for certain allergens, thereby reducing symptoms.

Allergy shots can’t fix every type of allergy.  The most common use is to manage seasonal allergies (like hay fever or ragweed) and people allergic to insect stings.  Shots aren’t a solution for those who are pregnant, have urticaria, suffer from asthma, have a heart condition requiring a beta blocker, or are allergic to certain foods.

If you simply can’t stay away from the things that trigger your symptoms and medicines are either ineffective or come with their own miserable side effects, it may be time to look into immunotherapy and allergy shots for permanent relief.  Check with your allergist to see if allergy shots are right for you.
